- Access WebEx at https://umd.webex.com. We recommend using Google Chrome but any browser should work.
- It is a good idea to encourage attendees to make sure their computer is ready for WebEx by visiting https://www.webex.com/test-meeting.html prior to their first WebEx meeting.
- Click on 'Meeting Center' to host an interactive meeting.
- Click on 'Host a Meeting' which will bring up the UMD Central Authentication Service login.
- After logging in, you will be presented with the following screen.
- You can choose to enter your personal meeting room or you can choose to schedule a meeting.
- The URL for your personal meeting room doesn't change. This can be very useful but sometimes you want a more professional looking URL for your meeting. This can be done under 'Schedule a Meeting' (see Step 10).
- If you select to enter your personal room, you will see the following screen after downloading and installing the WebEx applet/extension.
- Click on 'Call Using Computer' or click on the three dots below that to connect via telephone.
- Start the video by clicking on the video camera icon to the right of your name.
- To share an application, click on the 'Share Application' button. To share your entire screen, click on the three dots under 'Share Application'.
- Invite others via email by clicking the 'Invite & Remind' button.
- If you wish to record meetings, press the 'Record' button. Meeting recordings are stored by WebEx and you will receive an email after your meeting is over when your recording is available.
- If you want to schedule a meeting rather than using your personal meeting room, click 'Schedule a Meeting'. The following screen will appear.
- Fill in the fields and anyone you invite will receive an email with a link.
- When the time for your meeting arrives, you can either click on the link in the email reminder you will receive or you can go to https://umd.webex.com, click on 'Meeting Center', click on 'My Meetings', and click 'Start' by the appropriate meeting.

Get started with WebEx
Now that you’ve saved your old recordings, it’s time to learn how to use Cisco’s highly versatile Web conferencing tool, WebEx.
WebEx is is composed of three main service lines (and one tool we like to think of as a main service, because it’s that good):

- Meeting Center
- Training Center
- Event Center
- Personal Room
The Meeting Center is designed to work best for departmental meetings, work sessions, and project/product coordination. It’s maximum capacity is 1,000 devices -- but as with all the centers, the capacity will increase or decrease based on how the host sets up the audio conferencing.
The Training Center is great for distance and online learning, online classrooms, and employee or customer training for up to 1,000 participants. It boasts a handful of features for training such as testing, instant grading, and instructor scoring and breakout sessions. Instructors can also monitor the attention of their students, while students still have the agency to raise their hands, ask for help, or even ask the host to go slower/speed up.
For ClickOnce and DirectInvoke to work as designed and for the file handler to be successfully requested, the file handler must be registered to the operating system as supporting ClickOnce or DirectInvoke. This registration typically happens when the original operating system is installed or when a new program that's installed requests the ability to use DirectInvoke for updates. When a website receives a download req. In order to use the Discovery Agent, ClickOnce must be enabled on your browser. However, it is disabled by default on Microsoft Edge Chromium.
Allows users of Xactimate and XactContents online the ability to open and view or edit estimates.
The Event Center is ideal for webinars, events and conferences, and employee communications. Invite panelists, answer questions, and send out a post-event survey. Its maximum capacity is 1,000 participants (including the host).
The Personal Room is not a main service, but rather a branch of the Meeting Center. Cisco says it best here: “Your WebEx Personal Room is your own virtual conference space. It's always available, you don’t need to book it, and you always know where to find it.” Unlike the other services, your Personal Room has a permanent URL and is lockable -- meaning, interested parties can’t get in until you let them in. It has the same device capacity as the Meeting Center (1,000 devices).
